Evacuee Rights & Responsibilities

Reception Centre Services

The services available through GPREP depend on what the home municipality or the Government of Alberta authorizes, along with real-time capacity, resource availability, and facility schedules.

Support that may be provided

  • Hotel, campground, congregate lodging, or other assigned accommodations
  • Meal access, snacks, water, and food support within approved limits
  • Transportation from the reception centre to assigned lodging and designated meal sites when needed
  • Pet-related support planning at registration, including pet-friendly accommodations where available
  • Other approved services such as transit or recreation access during longer events

Important expectations

  • Only use the lodging location assigned by reception centre staff unless you choose to self-pay elsewhere
  • Follow the rules of the assigned hotel, campground, or congregate facility
  • Do not charge extras such as room service, mini bar, pay-per-view, dry cleaning, or long-distance calls to your room
  • Additional personal transportation costs beyond authorized supports remain your responsibility
  • Abusive behaviour toward staff, volunteers, or other guests will not be tolerated

If you have dietary, mobility, accessibility, pet, or barrier-free lodging needs, tell reception centre staff as early as possible so those needs can be considered in assignments.
